Hi there, my name is Sarah. Welcome to Honestly Homemade, where everything is made from scratch, fresh, and delicious. Sometimes our days get so busy with the hustle and bustle of everyday life that it is hard to slow down and take the time to make a homemade meal. However, making a homemade meal doesn’t have to be complicated or hard. I am going to share with you delicious recipes for every meal, including canning/freezing. As well as gardening tips to make the most out of the space you have.
I have always loved cooking. I come from a long line of excellent home cooks, bakers, canners, and homemakers on both sides of my family. I’ve spent my whole life absorbing all of their knowledge and techniques. Gardening is also a strong point on both sides of my family. My mom being a horticulturist, physical scientist, and hunter and my father an expert landscape artist and nature photographer, I was immersed in all things plant-life. I truly learned to value the gentle eco-systems that feed us. I married into a family of avid hunters, and have grown to love hunting myself. And really…there is nothing better than the feeling when you have harvested almost the entire meal your family is enjoying. If I could, I would spend my whole day in the kitchen or garden. I think if I did that my kids would get into too much trouble and the rest of my house’s cleanliness would be in disarray (not saying that it still doesn’t sometimes, because.. whose doesn’t?).
My goal is to make sure my children grow up understanding the importance of a homemade meal and where it came from. I can’t wait to share my cooking and gardening knowledge with you too.
